This free road crossing game puts a tiny blocky chicken at the edge of a busy highway. Hop forward lane by lane, dodge the cars and trucks and see how far you can go. It runs in your browser with no download or sign up, on computers and on phones.
Inspired by: Frogger (1981) and Crossy Road (2014).
How to play Crossy Road
- Move the chicken forward one step at a time.
- Wait for a gap in the traffic before you hop into a lane.
- Trees block your way, so step around them.
- Every step forward adds one point to your score.
- Getting hit by a car or truck ends the run. Press Retry to go again.
Controls
- Keyboard: Arrow keys hop forward, back, left and right.
- Mouse: Click the arrow buttons at the bottom of the screen.
- Touch screen: Tap the arrow buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Tips to score higher
- Watch the lane after the next one, not just the one in front of you.
- Trucks are long. Wait for the back of the truck to pass before you hop.
- Step sideways to line up with a safer gap instead of waiting on the road.
- Grass lanes are safe. Take a short pause there to plan.
The story behind Crossy Road
The idea of guiding a small creature across a busy road goes back to Frogger, released by Konami in 1981. In 2014, the Australian studio Hipster Whale released Crossy Road, a blocky mobile game that brought the idea to a whole new generation of phone players. This web version keeps the same cheerful voxel style and the same simple goal: one more hop, one more lane, one more try.
