Cube Dash is a free online rhythm runner. Your cube slides along on its own to a generated beat and you tap to jump over spikes, gaps and blocks. It runs in your browser with no download or sign up, works on phones and computers, and keeps working offline once loaded.
Inspired by: Rhythm platformers such as Geometry Dash (2013).
How to play Cube Dash
- Pick one of the three levels. Each one has its own speed and music.
- Tap, click or press Space or Up to jump. Hold the button to jump again as soon as you land.
- Jump over spikes and gaps. You can land on top of blocks and platforms, but touching their sides ends the attempt.
- Yellow pads throw you high into the air.
- Reach the finish gate to clear the level. Your best progress and attempt count are kept.
Controls
- Keyboard: Space, Up arrow or W to jump. P or Esc to pause.
- Mouse: Click anywhere on the game to jump. Hold to keep jumping.
- Touch screen: Tap anywhere on the screen to jump. Hold your finger down to keep jumping.
Tips to score higher
- Jump to the beat. Every obstacle is placed on the rhythm of the music.
- Jump a little late for spikes right after a block, so you land past them.
- Holding the button is safe on long flat parts, but let go when you need a precise single jump.
- A failed run restarts at once. Use the percentage bar to see which part you need to practise.
The story behind Cube Dash
Rhythm based runners grew from simple one button games. Geometry Dash, released in 2013 by Robert Topala, mixed a sliding cube, sharp spikes and electronic music and built a large community of players who share their own levels. Before that, mobile gamers had learned that one button could be enough for a very hard game. In India, many people met these games on cheap Android phones, tapping along with headphones on the metro or during a break. Cube Dash is our own original take on that feeling of one more try.
