Metro Dash is a free endless runner you play in your browser. Switch lanes, jump and roll to dodge trains and barriers while you grab coins and the track speeds up. There is no download or sign up, it works on phone and desktop, and it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Inspired by: Endless runner games on phones, such as the popular subway runners (2012 onwards).
How to play Metro Dash
- Press Play and your runner starts sprinting down a three lane metro track.
- Switch lanes to get around oncoming trains. A train is always blocking at least one lane, so look ahead.
- Jump over the low red barriers and roll under the high orange bars.
- Collect coins for bonus points. Your distance counts too.
- The track gets faster the longer you run. One crash ends the run.
Controls
- Keyboard: Left and right arrows or A and D to change lane, Up or W or Space to jump, Down or S to roll. P to pause.
- Mouse: Click and drag in a direction to swipe.
- Touch screen: Swipe left or right to change lane, swipe up to jump and swipe down to roll.
Tips to score higher
- Look at the far end of the track, not at your runner. Early planning saves you.
- Press Down in mid air to drop to the ground and roll straight away.
- Coin arcs above low barriers are worth the jump, so use them.
- You cannot change lane into the side of a train. Move early, before it arrives.
The story behind Metro Dash
Endless runners became a huge hit on phones in the early 2010s. The idea is older, going back to simple arcade games where you survive as long as you can, but touch screens made it perfect: one finger, one swipe, one more try. These games taught millions of people that a short, fast session is enough to be hooked. For many of us in India, they were the games we played on a bus or metro ride, with one thumb and a phone at low battery. Metro Dash brings that quick swipe and sprint feeling to your browser.
