How to play Pacman
- Press the Click here to play button to start a round.
- Move through the maze and eat the small dots to score points.
- Keep away from the ghosts. Touching one ends your run.
- Eat a large power pellet to turn the ghosts scared for a short time, then chase them for bonus points.
- Clear every dot on the board to win the round.

- Keyboard: Arrow keys move up, down, left and right.

- Touch screen: Swipe up, down, left or right on the screen to change direction.
Tips to score higher
- Save the power pellets in the corners for when the ghosts close in on you.
- Turn early at corners. A late key press can send you into a dead end.
- Clear one area of the maze at a time so you do not leave lonely dots behind.
- Watch where the ghosts are heading, not just where they are now.
The story behind Pacman
Pac-Man was created by Toru Iwatani at Namco and reached arcades in 1980. Instead of space ships and shooting, it offered a cheerful round hero, a maze and four colourful ghosts, and it became one of the best known video games of all time. Its mix of simple rules and tense chases inspired countless maze games that followed. Many of us in India first played a version of it on a cousin's computer, a cheap handheld or a video game parlour, and the waka waka sound still brings back those afternoons.
