Pool Trick Shots is a free top-down pool game that runs in your browser, with no download or sign up. Pull back to aim and choose your power, then pot every ball in as few shots as you can. It works on phones and computers and keeps working offline once loaded.
Inspired by: Pool and billiards, as played in clubs and on mobile phones.
How to play Pool Trick Shots
- Choose Full rack for 15 balls or Trick shots for a quicker table with a few balls.
- Drag away from the direction you want to shoot. The dotted line shows where the white ball will go.
- The farther you drag, the harder the shot. Let go to hit the ball.
- Pot balls into any of the six pockets. Every ball counts the same.
- If the white ball drops into a pocket, that is a scratch. It costs an extra shot and some points.
- Clear the table before you run out of shots to win. Fewer shots mean a better score.
Controls
- Keyboard: Left and right arrows turn your aim, hold Shift for fine aim. Hold Space to build power and release to shoot.
- Mouse: Press, drag back and release. The farther you drag, the harder the shot.
- Touch screen: Drag on the table away from your target, then lift your finger. You can also use the arrows and the Shoot button.
Tips to score higher
- Watch the orange line that appears after the ghost ball. It shows where the target ball will roll.
- Use soft shots to keep the white ball close and set up your next pot.
- Break the rack early and hard. Spread out balls are easier to aim at.
- Balls bounce off cushions, so a bank shot can reach a pocket that a straight shot cannot.
- Avoid hitting the white ball too hard near a pocket. A scratch is expensive.
The story behind Pool Trick Shots
Cue sports grew out of lawn games played in northern Europe in the 1400s, which moved indoors onto tables covered in green cloth. By the 1800s billiards halls were popular in Britain, India and America. Snooker, a close cousin of pool, was invented in the 1870s by British army officers stationed in India, which gives cue sports a special link to this part of the world. Many of us learned our first shots in a local club or a friend's house, chalking a cue and dreaming of the perfect bank shot. Now you can line one up on any device.
