Slingshot Smash is a free physics game where you pull back a slingshot and fling puffs at towers made of wood, stone and ice. Knock out every Grumble in 3 shots to clear a level. It runs in your browser with no download or sign up, works on phones and computers, and keeps working offline once loaded.
Inspired by: Physics slingshot games from the smartphone era (2009 onwards).
How to play Slingshot Smash
- Drag back anywhere on the screen, like pulling a rubber band, and a dotted line shows where the puff will fly.
- Let go to launch. The further you pull, the faster it flies.
- While the puff is in the air, tap or press Space to use its power: a speed boost, a split into three or an explosion.
- Hit the towers so they fall on the green Grumbles. Every Grumble must go to clear the level.
- You get 3 shots per level and 3 hearts. Run out of shots with a Grumble left and you lose a heart.
- Clear all 10 levels to win. Leftover shots give bonus points.
Controls
- Keyboard: Up and Down change the angle, Left and Right change the power, Space fires and then uses the puff's power in the air.
- Mouse: Press, drag back and release to fire. Click while it flies to use its power.
- Touch screen: Drag back with your finger and let go. Tap the screen or the Power button while the puff flies.
Tips to score higher
- Wood and ice break easily, stone is tough. Aim for the supports under a heavy block.
- Hit the lower part of a tower so the top comes down on its own.
- The blue puff splits in three, so use its power just before it reaches the structure.
- The purple puff explodes. Pop it right next to the Grumbles for the biggest blast.
The story behind Slingshot Smash
Slingshot physics games became very popular after 2009, when a small game about flinging birds at buildings reached phones around the world. The idea itself is much older, and it shares roots with artillery and catapult games on early home computers. What made it special was simple touch controls and towers that fell in surprising ways. In India, phones were often shared in the family, and many of us remember passing one around for just one more shot. Slingshot Smash uses its own characters and levels, and keeps that same pull, aim and release feeling.
