Space Pinball is a free online pinball table with bumpers, slingshots, targets and a black hole. It runs in your browser with no download or sign up, works on phones and computers, and keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Inspired by: Classic pinball tables and the 3D Pinball that shipped with Windows (1995).
How to play Space Pinball
- Hold Space or the Launch button to pull the plunger, then let go to shoot the ball up the right lane.
- Use the left and right flippers to keep the ball in play and send it toward the bumpers.
- Hit all three pink targets to complete the comet bank, and light all three star lanes at the top to raise your multiplier.
- Roll the ball into the black hole for a big bonus.
- You have 3 balls. The game ends when the last ball drains between the flippers.
Controls
- Keyboard: Space or Down arrow to launch. Left and Right arrows (or A and D) for the flippers. P or Esc to pause.
- Mouse: Click and hold the left or right half of the table to flip. Click and hold on the plunger lane to launch.
- Touch screen: Hold the Launch button and release to fire. Tap and hold the left or right half of the table to work the flippers.
Tips to score higher
- A longer plunger pull gives a harder launch, but a short pull is enough to reach the top lanes.
- Wait for the ball to roll down toward the flipper tip before you flip. Early flips send it sideways.
- The first seconds after a launch give you a free ball save, so keep playing if the ball drains early.
- Complete the star lanes before the comet bank. A higher multiplier makes every bumper hit worth more.
The story behind Space Pinball
Pinball began in the 1930s as small coin tables with springs and pins. The electric flipper arrived in 1947 with the machine Humpty Dumpty, and that single invention turned a game of luck into a game of skill. In 1995 many of us met the table on a computer, when 3D Pinball Space Cadet came with Windows in the mid 90s. It sat on office PCs and school lab machines, and it was a common way to avoid doing real work. If you grew up in the 90s or 2000s in India, a quiet game of space pinball in the computer lab probably felt like a small act of rebellion.
Questions players ask
Is Space Pinball free to play?
Yes. It is free, with no sign up, no download and no in-game purchases.
Can I play pinball offline?
Yes. Open the page once while online. After that the table loads and plays without internet.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Use the Launch button and tap the left or right side of the table to flip.
Is this the Windows Space Cadet pinball game?
No. It is our own table with original art and layout, made in the same spirit as the classic space themed pinball games.
How does scoring work?
Bumpers, slingshots, targets and lanes all add points. Lighting the star lanes and clearing the comet targets raises a multiplier up to x5.
