How to play Super Over Cricket
- Each over has six balls and you have two wickets. A target is shown at the top of the screen.
- Watch the bowler. Fast, medium and slow balls come in at different speeds, with swing, bounce and different lengths.
- Press Space, click or tap just as the ball reaches your bat to play a shot.
- A perfectly timed shot goes straight for a four or a six. Early shots go to the leg side and late shots go to the off side.
- Miss the ball when it is on the stumps and you are bowled. A mishit can also be caught.
- Reach the target to move to the next over, which has a bigger target. Wide balls give a run and are bowled again.
Controls
- Keyboard: Space, Enter or Z to swing the bat. Left and right arrows steer the shot as you swing. P pauses.
- Mouse: Click anywhere on the game screen to swing.
- Touch screen: Tap anywhere on the game screen to swing.
Tips to score higher
- Do not swing at the bowler's hand. Wait until the ball has bounced and is close to your bat.
- Slow balls look easy but they arrive later than you think. Be patient.
- Yorkers are hard to hit for a big shot. A single is a fine answer.
- A ball that is far outside the stumps can be left alone, but be sure it is wide.
- Do not chase a six every ball. Two good fours and a couple of singles often win the over.
The story behind Super Over Cricket
Cricket came to life in England and became part of everyday life in India, played with a bat and a rubber ball in lanes, terraces and parks. The Super Over is a famous finish in short format cricket, where a single over decides a tied match, and the tension is hard to match. For many of us, cricket is the first game we remember, from tape ball matches after school to watching a last ball six with the whole family. Super Over Cricket turns that moment into a quick timing game you can play anywhere.
